AGYA Alumni Jointly building bridges into the future
About me
I am a lecturer at the Faculty of Music at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, where I also obtained my PhD (summa cum laude) on spectral microtonal composing to bridge Arabic and Western music. At the University of Oldenburg, I am teacher of musicology, electronic music and composition. I also work as teacher at the Faculty of Linguistics and Cultural Studies. My research interest lies in the diverse cultural and musical expressions of our world. Furthermore, I have been working as composer since 1999 combining various styles, e.g. computer-supported compositions mixing traditional Arabic elements with forms of contemporary European art music. As musician and composer, I commit myself socially and work towards a meaningful positive change within society. For example, one of my projects aims to introduce people with special needs to music.
I have vast experience in different musical fields such as contemporary music, ethnomusicology, culture and music, electronic music, multimedia, music education, music theory and composition. Therefore, I appreciate cooperating with AGYA members in joint interdisciplinary projects that use theoretical or practical approaches or combine both.
