Ikram Hili
AGYA Alumni Jointly building bridges into the future
About me
I am an assistant professor in the English department of the Faculty of Letters and Humanities at the University of Sousse in Tunisia. My main fields of interest are literature, translation, cultural studies and modern manuscript studies.
AGYA offers me the valuable opportunity to take part in interdisciplinary projects that bring together the humanities, social sciences and other disciplines like musicology, for example, which I really enjoy and appreciate!
As a member in charge of the ‘Education’ Working Group, I helped co-organize an online workshop titled ‘Leadership Skills in Academia’. I took great delight in the discussion generated during the workshop, which included participants from different backgrounds and with various research interests. Such rich interdisciplinary discussion is one of the many advantages of being an AGYA member.
What I find most compelling about AGYA membership is the opportunity it provides to work on interdisciplinary projects, allowing me to gain insight into research fields other than my own and the chance to weave connecting threads between them to come up with interesting, perceptive projects. Learning from each other’s experiences is equally rewarding.
