AGYA Alumni Jointly building bridges into the future
AGYA is an academy that celebrates the human mind and intellectual creativity across disciplines and cultural backgrounds. It is an honour to be a part of such a vibrant network of early-career researchers from the Arab world and Germany.
Membership in AGYA significantly enhanced and advanced my professional career, thanks to the academy’s innovative interdisciplinary approach and the access it provides to an outstanding academic network. Shared interests with several of my AGYA colleagues led to several memorable projects on intercultural, North-South-South dialogue and to exciting interdisciplinary investigation into new materials for energy and environmental applications. Over my five-year membership, we organized several workshops on tolerance and the global idea of enlightenment, and prepared a lecture series on contemporary women philosophers and the role of arts and sciences in societal transformation. We also organized several international conferences and workshops on cutting-edge topics like smart cities and emergent materials for green energy and environmental control. Without AGYA’s unique structure and support, these projects would not have been possible to realize.

My advice to future AGYA members
AGYA supports cooperation, collaboration and innovation for the benefit of all. I advise future AGYA members to get involved in tandem and working group projects that span diverse disciplines so they will not only experience the differences, but also begin to bridge gaps between scientific fields.
