New Steering Committee
Three Arab and three German members were elected to the new AGYA Steering Committee at the General Assembly during the AGYA Annual Conference in November 2023. They will coordinate the academic activities of all AGYA members and represent the academy at international conferences to enhance AGYA's cooperation network.
Arab Berlin: Dynamics of Transformation
Berlin is increasingly emerging as a hub of Arab intellectual life in Europe. In this first study of Arab culture to zoom in on the thriving metropolis, the contributors shed light on the dynamics of transformation with Arabs as agents, subjects, and objects of change.
AGYA members are excellent early-career researchers from a great variety of disciplines. Half of the members are based in Germany and half in Arab countries.
AGYA offers its 60 members the unique opportunity to develop and implement their ideas, visions, and projects within the framework of Arab-German research collaboration.

At the centre of AGYA is the General Assembly of all AGYA members, who convene twice a year to decide the academy’s matters and research agenda. Members use the occasion to exchange and report on their AGYA activities. Within 6 Working Groups, the members develop interdisciplinary research projects according to their groups’ broader topic. AGYA Working Groups
AGYA members have established six Working Groups so far. Each Working Group conducts periodic meetings throughout the year. Within the Working Groups, the members form strong ties to each other across disciplines and geographical background. They are the first point of entry into AGYA, providing identification and orientation to new members.
