AGYA Alumni Jointly building bridges into the future
About me
When I think of my time in AGYA, I recall wonderful moments that I spent with my Arab and German colleagues in Cairo, Amman, and Beirut, as well as in Berlin, Hamburg, and Halle. Beside endless personal talks about academia, potential joint projects, and common visions, I realized a number of interdisciplinary projects with the Working Group ‘Common Heritage and Common Challenges’, which I co-headed from 2013 to 2016. Among the major projects that I conducted in AGYA were the international conference ‘Fluid Nature, Fluid Cultures: Malta and the Mediterranean’ (co-funded by the Volkswagen Foundation) and the art-meets-science exhibition project ‘Eine Flucht in Bildern’. These unconventional interdisciplinary projects would not have been possible without AGYA’s fresh and vibrant approach to new collaborative formats. As an alumnus, I am excited to continue supporting similar outside-of-the-box projects envisioned by AGYA’s members.
