3rd Practical Training on Academic and Professional Skills for Entry into the Labour Market

Call for Participation

Are you interested in how to organise the transition from student life to academic and professional life? Do you want to improve your marketability skills and increase your chances of employability? Do you wish to connect with scholars from other countries and disciplines and learn more about the growing importance of interdisciplinarity?

The workshop and training aim at enhancing your practical skills and increasing your capacity to compete nationally and internationally at industrial as well as academic levels. We will equip you with essential soft and social skills and prepare you for the fast-evolving academic and professional community, and the respective labour market. The hybrid training consists of both an online workshop with input lectures and Q&As and an intensive on-site training course, each with high-ranking professional trainers and speakers. Workshop and training are open for STEM graduates from Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, Palestine, and other neighboring Arab countries and humanities and social science students from Germany.

The on-site training courses will take place at the premises of the Nile University (NU) in Giza/Egypt, the Free University of Berlin/Germany, the Beirut Arab University/Lebanon, the University of Benghazi/Libya, the Islamic University of Gaza (IUG) in Gaza/Palestine, and the Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU) in Hebron/Palestine

Topics:

The online workshop will include, but is not limited to the following topics:

  • Enhancing the marketability skills of students,
  • Interview skills and resume writing,
  • Scholarship and application strategies,
  • Research skills and academic career,
  • Understanding entrepreneurship startups' roadmap,
  • Leadership and entrepreneurial skills.

The on-site training course will include, but is not limited to the following
topics/agenda points:

  • Interview training,
  • Leadership training,
  • Entrepreneuship skills.

Eligibility:

Eligible participants have/are:

  • A STEM background in the MENA Region,
  • Humanities and/or social science students in Germany,
  • Preferably graduates or almost graduated students,
  • A very good command of English,
  • Exceptionally motivated to actively contribute to the online workshop.
