About me

The enlightenment needs to be enlightened!

My research focuses on themes revolving around German classical philosophy, political philosophy, as well as modern Arabic philosophy. AGYA has given me an opportunity to deepen my expertise by further exploring intercultural and interdisciplinary aspects of my research. With my colleagues Carola Richter, Fatima Kastner, and Florian Kohstall, I was able to consider the academic transformations that emerged after the ‘Arab Spring’ from both a theoretical and biographical perspective. AGYA’s diverse network has facilitated my adoption of an interdisciplinary viewpoint, which has yielded valuable insights for my projects. So far, I have carried out two stimulating projects in collaboration with my Algerian AGYA colleague Faycal Djeffal. The anthology Konzepte von Toleranz und Intoleranz in der arabischen Welt (De Gruyter) will be published in 2021. We also co-organized a lecture series during the 2019–2020 winter semester at the University of Hildesheim, which featured presentations by and about contemporary Arab women philosophers. These two projects have brought me into new intellectual territory, and I expect my future academic endeavours to continue to benefit greatly from my engagement in AGYA.
