THIS CALL IS CLOSED!

Call for Participation

We are delighted to announce the upcoming AGYA Summer School on Affordable Artificial Intelligence (SAAI -سعي).

The AGYA Summer School is designed with the purpose of promoting both theoretical and experimental research in the field of Affordable Artificial Intelligence (AI). Through a carefully curated interdisciplinary curriculum, participants will explore the fundamental principles, potential applications, and the latest advancements in this dynamic scientific field with a multi-faceted focus engaging the academic fields of health, education and climate change. One of the most significant features of this occasion is the seamless blending of talented students with a community of renowned international experts in the field of Artificial Intelligence.

By facilitating direct interactions and engaging discussions, the AGYA Summer School will foster an intellectually stimulating environment, encouraging the exchange of ideas and the exploration of innovative research paths. Moreover, the Summer School will serve as an exceptional platform for international and interdisciplinary networking. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with peers and professionals from different countries, establishing valuable relationships that may extend well beyond the confines of the event.

The Summer School takes place at the University of Bonn, a vibrant campus and hub of knowledge exchange in Germany. High-ranking international speakers and trainers, among them AGYA members and alumnae/i, will train the participants in the highly innovative field of Artificial Intelligence through an interdisciplinary lens.

The event is open for under-/ graduate students from all disciplines of the technical, life, natural, social sciences and humanities as well as the arts with a particular research interest in Artificial Intelligence from a university/research institution in Germany or any Arab country and with an excellent command of English.

Topics:

The Summer School is dedicated to crafting teaching course modules that are not only informed by the latest AI developments but also finely tuned to the specific needs and resource limitations of low-income countries in the MENA region. This integrative program, which takes place over the course of three days will equip participants with the necessary knowledge of the latest affordable AI technologies to address common challenges in their respective fields in Germany and the Arab world. The modules center on the following topics:

AI Focus:

  • Python
Participants will acquire proficiency in Python, a widely used programming language in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

  • Mathematics & Statistics
Participants will develop a strong foundation in various fields of statistics and mathematics, which are essential for understanding and working with AI and machine learning algorithms.

  • Analytical Thinking
The Summer School will enhance participants’ analytical thinking skills, which are crucial for problem-solving in AI and machine learning.

Interdisciplinary Focus:

The program offers insights into the AI applications and uses in these fields in addition to hands-on training.

  • AI & Health

  • AI & Robotics

  • AI & Climate Change

Eligibility:

With participation from diverse academic backgrounds, we foster knowledge transfer and collaborative learning among approximately 30 students and graduates, and 12 faculty members from Germany and Arab countries.

Eligible for participation are:

  • Under-/ Graduate Students from all disciplines with a particular research interest in AI.

  • Students affiliated with a university or research institution in Germany or any Arab country.

  • with an excellent command of the English language.

Join us as we embark on this journey to shape the future of AI, making it accessible and affordable for all!
