Workshop: Climate Change and Cultural Heritage – Global Issues, Global Perspectives
Around the world, cultural heritage sites face unprecedented challenges as human-induced climate change accelerates. Historical buildings, cities, and built landscapes alike are confronted with lasting impacts due to shifting environmental conditions.
Focusing on the critical challenges posed by climate change on the conservation of cultural heritage, this two-day workshop will bring together experts, practitioners, policymakers, and community members to foster interdisciplinary dialogue. Participants will explore the impacts of climate change on heritage sites, discuss adaptation strategies, and examine successful grassroots initiatives that highlight the importance of community engagement in preservation efforts. The workshop will also address the legal and policy frameworks necessary for climate-resilient heritage, along with the social and psychological dimensions influencing conservation strategies.
