 Parallel Sessions continued
Science Forum II: Energy, Technology, Power: New Lines of Contest
The global order is being reshaped along new lines of contest – over energy, technology, and raw materials. Hydrogen, once framed as the centerpiece of a new Arab-German energy partnership, has moved from euphoria to a more sober reassessment of markets, industrialization, and competitiveness. At the same time, the currency of power increasingly lies on technology, critical minerals, and industrial leadership. Where do Germany and the Arab countries stand in this shifting landscape: as partners, competitors, or bystanders?

14:00Panel Discussion
Resilience in Arab-German Research Cooperation
Taking the conference title „Polycentric and Participatory Knowledge Production“ as its starting point, the forum explores whether academic resilience grows when scientific excellence is shared across centers of knowledge, and whether transnational co-creation and societal involvement strengthen trust in science. Together, the discussants examine the terms of partnership and agency: How to set joint research agendas, how credit is shared, how mobility programs can mitigate brain drain, and how funding can build lasting rather than episodic structures. The central question is: How do we build partnerships that not only survive disruption, but grow through it?
