AGYA Alumni Jointly building bridges into the future
About me
My research focuses on the transnational structures of cultural and political history of modern Europe, particularly the role of public sphere and mass media. Furthermore I deal with historical gender studies, historical scandal studies and historical dictatorship studies. In the last years as Assistant Professor at Stuttgart I participated in various international collaborative research projects about the cultural history of politics in the modern era.
For several years now I have seen with great regret that there are strong US American initiatives in the Arab countries, e.g. the founding of American Universities, but basically no German and European enterprises of the same kind. This is especially unfortunate as there is little academic exchange in my field – modern history, and the humanities in general – between Arab and German scholars. With my contribution to the AGYA I hope to create an impulse for future collaboration in this area.
