Ayham Dalal
About me
I am a Lecturer and Assistant Professor in Architecture and Urban Design at the German University in Cairo. My research focuses on the urban dynamics and transformation processes that shape cities in contexts of migration, conflict, and informality. In particular, I examine how urban communities resist, adapt, and alter urban spaces and architectures to meet their everyday needs – thereby challenging conventional paradigms of planning and architecture.
Being an AGYA member is an invaluable opportunity to develop and expand my research agenda in collaboration with an outstanding group of scholars from different fields.
For me, working across disciplines and regions, and co-producing knowledge with communities, is a necessity to find integrated solutions in a world increasingly challenged by political conflicts, climate change, and spatial injustice.
