Abdulla Alabbasi
About me
I am Director of the Energy and Environmental Studies Program at the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International & Energy Studies (DERASAT), leading research on energy transition, decarbonisation, and behavioural analysis in energy use. My current projects focus on smart grid innovation, regional energy policy, and the integration of renewables, including Bahrain’s first AI Renewable Energy Lab. I work at the intersection of technology and policy to advance sustainable energy systems in the Gulf. I actively contribute to international platforms like the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE), and Conseil International des Grands Réseaux Électriques (CIGRE), to support environmental governance and strategic collaboration.
AGYA offers a unique opportunity to expand interdisciplinary cooperation, especially in linking technical energy solutions with socio-economic impacts.
I am motivated by AGYA’s commitment to fostering Arab-German academic exchange, which enriches my work through diverse perspectives, collaborative research, and broader regional impact.
