Workshop ‘Performative and Performance’

10 - 12 Sep 2018

Accademia Teatro Dimitri, Verscio, Switzerland

What can theatre practice teach us about communication and body language? AGYA members will have the chance to reflect and improve their (non-verbal) communication skills in a tailored workshop in cooperation with ‘Accademia Teatro Dimitri’ in Switzerland. The training takes place in conjunction with a one-day academic and interdisciplinary seminar on the terms ‘performative’ and ‘performance’.

We are in constant communication with our environment and with other human beings. And of course there is more to communication than words — we also communicate through our way of moving, our facial expressions, our posture or the sound of our voice. The workshop unfolds in a dialogue between the teaching artists and the participants. Two worlds — the academic and the artistic one — collide and new perspectives open up. The workshop includes exercises with character masks, a method that brings attention to posture and body language. The training allows the participants to observe and become aware of their movements and body language.

A project of the AGYA Working Group Common Heritage and Common Challenges.
