AGYA Annual Conference

14 - 17 Apr 2019

Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW) & Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany

AGYA members and alumni look forward to a rich program at the Annual Conference in Berlin, 14 - 17 April 2019. Next to the regular General Assembly and Working Group Meetings, the members will be offered different training opportunities for intercultural team-building and communication as well as policy brief writing. During scientific excursions to the German Bundestag and the Technology Park Adlershof, AGYA members will get a glimpse of the diverse Berlin scientific community.

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Martin Grötschel, President of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW) & Co-Chair of the AGYA Advisory Board, will welcome all AGYA members at his premises with a public keynote speech on 16 April 2019.

Furthermore, high-ranking politicians, like Dr. h.c. Edelgard Bulmahn, will get the chance to exchange with all AGYA members during a networking afternoon.

The closing highlight of the Annual Conference is the official festive opening of the exhibition ‘Cinderella, Sindbad & Sinuhe. Arab-German Storytelling Traditions‘ at the Neues Museum Berlin. It aims to show the transcultural value of narrative traditions as a shared cultural heritage, and highlights mutual influences, shared ideas, and cultural transfer between the Arab world and Germany through storytelling past and present. The exhibition is a joint enterprise between the Egyptian Museum and Papyrus Collection, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin; the Arab Ambassadors Council in Germany; the Arab League; and AGYA.
